Half-Bridge Strain Gage - Configuration Type I

Circuit Description

Graph image for Half-Bridge Strain Gage - Configuration Type I

Circuit Graph

* Measures axial or bending strain. * Increases the bridge’s sensitivity to strain (up to 2x w.r.t quarter-bridge configuration) by making two strain gages active. * Requires half-bridge completion resistors (R1, R2) to complete the Wheatstone bridge. * R4 is an active strain gage measuring the tensile strain (+ε). * R3 is an active strain gage compensating for Poisson’s effect (-νε).
