This is an enhancement to the BJT current mirror which can be found in the circuit 'BJT Current Mirror / MOSFET Current Mirror'. A buffer (emitter follower) transistor Q3 is inserted between the collector of Q1 and the junction of the bases of Q1 and Q2. Less current is taken from the reference to drive the bases of Q1 and Q2 so the collector current of Q1 is closer in value to the reference. The output current delivered to the load now more accurately matches the reference current.
