The Future of Multisim is on the Desktop. On September 15, 2026, the Multisim Live online simulator will be shut down. Read more about this transition here

1) switch S1 on (1) for step response analysis
- Run “Transient” simulation during 10 times of RC
- Take from the response curve :
• the time constant at U2(τ) = 0.632Ep and U2(5τ) = 0.993Ep
• the rise time tr between 10% and 90% of the step response Ep
- Compare :
• the values of the time constant τ with RC ?
• the value of tr with 2.2 τ ?
- Run “Transient” simulation during 1/10 time of RC
• Take the value of U2(0.1 τ) and compare it with the function f(0.1τ) = Ep*0.1τ
• deduce the response performed by the RC circuit for t << τ .
2) switch S1 on (2) for frequency response analysis
- Run “AC sweep” simulation, for frequency 1 Hz up 1 MHz
- Take from the curve response :
• the cut off frequency fc, the band width and deduce the function performed by the RC circuit
• the difference in phase performed by the RC circuit
