Simple Potential Divider
Vin = 12V
Total Resistance = 10K + 22K = 32K
Current can be got from Ohm Law
I = Vin/Rtotal = 375uA
Voltage measured between R1 and R2 with reference to ground
(Vout) is
Vout = Vin X (R2/Rtotal)
= 12 X (22,000/32,000)
= 12 X (22/32)
= 8.25V
Note: R1 and R2 could be replaced with a variable resistor (Pot) of 32K and would give a full range of volatges between 0V and 12V at Vout.
