This circuit is used to verify the Thevenin's theorem. Any larger circuit can be reduced to Thevenin's equivalent circuit having only Thevenin Voltage Vth, Thevenin Resistance Rth and load resistance RL. This reduced equivalent circuit is easy to calculate current and power across the load
