SPWM stands for (Sine Pulse Width Modulation) π«π
When we feed a sine wave and a triangle wave into an op-amp comparator, the output is what we call SPWM πβ¬
The triangle wave frequency must be much higher than the sine wave frequency βπββοΈββ‘οΈ
The higher the triangle frequency relative to the sine, the smoother the output becomes after filtering π₯πππΉ
We use SPWM to approximate a sine wave from square waves of different widths.
Every square wave can be combined and filtered to approximate a sine wave π
Example:
Driving MOSFET gates with a SPWM signal and then using a filter to remove high-frequency components that produces a nice sine wave, which can be used to drive an AC motor ποΈποΈ
