Bipolar Active Voltage Clipping

Circuit Description

Graph image for Bipolar Active Voltage Clipping

Circuit Graph

This circuit performs the function of bipolar signal limiting. The upper and lower extreme limits are set with adjustable voltages in this simulation. A op-amp senses difference between the input signal and a reference. When a error exists, the transistor is driven with enough current to limit the signal at the set voltage. In normal operation, no distortion occurs. The word active is used because it uses op-amps not diode clamps.
