Power stage of a buck switching regulator. This circuit is built and tested by electrical-engineering-technology students in a two-year community-college program. In the real circuit, Q1 is an IRF9630 FET. D1 is either MBR1045 or NTE6083. The gate driver is TC4467. The three 10-nH inductors represent wiring inductance. 10 nH is probably on the low side for a breadboard. The larger the wiring incuctance, the larger the spike in the V(SWX) waveform.
